I have never met a kid who didn’t love fast food – the burgers and fries and soda…and rice, if you’re in the Philippines. For most families, it is pretty easy to take a quick trip to McDonald’s (if you are American) or Jollybee (if you are Filipino).

However, for our large family or more than 70 (including kids and staff), it is next to impossible. We could never squeeze everyone into our bus or a jeepney. And even if we could, our small dirt roads certainly don’t lead to the local McDonalds.

However, we have learned in this world full of wonder and mystery that nothing is impossible. So, with dozens of children who love fast food, we were faced with a dilemma. We knew we could not bring them all to Jollybee.

         So…we brought Jollybee to them.

But I’m not just talking about the burgers and fries and coke and rice. I’m talking about the whole show – the Jollybee mascot, the games, the contests, the dancing. We brought it all. And it was a day full of fun and laughter and complete silliness.

During the month of September, three children celebrated birthdays. Each of them got an extra hamburger and a special dance with Jollybee himself. If you have never been able to meet Mr. Jollybee, let me tell you…he is quite a large, silly, likable bee! There is nothing that will make a crowd cheer more than seeing Jollybee dancing hip-hop style and doing back flips across the stage. Except, of course, seeing our kids challenge him to a dance-off (and we’re still not sure who won that one!).

Jollybee brought with him enough food to feed all of the kids and staff, and prizes for each of the kids. There was even a special prize for our own beautiful Monette, who won the Jollybee Smile contest.

I’ll admit that I love going out for fast food, just like the kids….but it is not nearly as fun as the fast food coming to you!

Be sure to check out the pictures that are coming soon!
