Wow what a wonderful blessing to have thirteen friends from Burlington, IA, First AOG, visit HHCR this last month. They contributed to medical outreaches, ministering to over 600 children and adults in a two day event. The young people gathered for youth night event led by Shane and the HHCR kids band and worship group.

Altogether they spent almost two weeks, playing, training and ministering to the kids and young people all at their own expense. Why would they spend all this money and effort to travel so far, using vacation time, etc. well according to Pastor Paul, “the love of Jesus”.

A number of the group sponsor children in our MofM projects, and were able to have a personal visit with their sponsored children; even traveling to the remote Island where the Ati kids live near Boracay.

Thanks again from all of us at HHCR.

This morning we had a funeral service for one of our treasures at the Ranch. He was a great example of the power of the powerless. Totally dependent on our care, he demonstrated a kind of love that comes only from the love of Jesus. We saw the face of Jesus each time we cared for him.
I picked him out of a squalid existence in a small shack in a nieghboring island of Mactan, Cebu. He was six and the doctors told us not to hope for much. He probably would not survive anymore than a couple of weeks. But love had other plans for Jumar and Jesus loaned us him for another sixteen years. He made us better, taught our children unconditional love. The power of the powerless.

The text said, “she is trying to kill herself”, she found a razor blade and was trying to slit her wrist. She is one of our new girls, just fifteen and yet life seems hopeless.
Having been sold into a brothel, newly rescued her life has been swirling around at breakneck speed.
Driving as fast as safely possible Nancy and couple of the staff made their way back from the Ranch to the safe house.
Two hours of couseling, prayer and tears showed a girl whose hope was gone. She had nothing to live for, only shame and pain that seemed unbearable.
However, we had the first small breakthrough. She has agreed to stay and hear what we have to say. As Nancy and ladies prayed for her she calmed down and it seemed that perhaps we had a first victory.
It takes weeks, months and a great deal of peeling away layers of trauma to get the ladies to see that God truely loves them and has a plan for their lives.
Keep Nancy and our team in your prayers, it is truely a spiritual as well as a psychological battle.

Dear Friends:

Nancy and I want to invite you once again to join us as we advocate against modern day slavery. The Trafficking in People (TIP) is a growing problem that affects hundreds of thousands of children and women around the Globe.

This last week we received another three young ladies who have been saved from slavery. Young girls who have dreams and plans that did not include working as a sex slave. Yet that is what happened!

We are waiting for another dozen girls who are in different stages of processing by the Social Welfare Dept to be transferred to Happy Horizons.

We are thrilled at the growth of the work, now we currently have two girls in semi-independent living, going to a vocational school and a number of others that we have been able to place in employment situations. In fact, one of our recent graduates is now working as a social worker in one of our projects. She is making a wonderful contribution and because of her background she has found the ATI (an indigenous group) very open and receptive to her. She has been receiving high marks from her supervisors. We are thrilled! After spending a short time with her family, reunited after years of seperation, she is finding her new life thrilling and fulfiling.

We can not do this without your continued support and prayers. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

For the Kids,

Glenn & Nancy

This week was a time of tragedy and triumph. The triumph was the birth of a baby to one of our former girls. Her husband was at her side and she had a beautiful baby boy. Unfortunately, this morning we received a call that the baby of one of our former girls, in ICU at a government hospital did not make it through the night.
Respitory failure was the cause. The baby had lost conscieousness and was rushed to the hospital having stopped breathing.
God is the Father of both and we rejoice knowing that they are both in His loving hands.
